Four surgeons originally formed the group practice of Southwestern Surgery Associates, Ltd. in October of 1968. The surgeons included Duncan W. Campbell, M.D., Mark M. Kartchner, M.D., Vernor F. Lovett, M.D., and Donald D. Ewing, M.D. While three of the original four are no longer in active practice, Dr. Mark Kartchner continues as surgeon emeritus.

The members of today's Southwestern Surgery Associates specialize in General, Colon, Rectal, Thoracic, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeries. All of our surgeons are board certified or board eligible and many serve academic appointments at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine.
